Looking for a neighborhood filled to the brim with personality? Hello, Lakeview!

One of Chicago’s largest neighborhoods, Lakeview is a melting pot of cultures and traditions, as well as some incredible Real Estate! Divided into four unofficial sub-neighborhoods, Lakeview East, West Lakeview, Halsted and Wrigleyville, it’s known for hosting a lively bunch of special events that attract residents from all over the city, as well as tourists visiting Chicago.

Spend the day admiring historical churches, unique architecture, the Cubbies and the beautifully landscaped neighborhoods, stopping in at one of the many bars, restaurants, shops and theatres; there is something new waiting around every corner, making Lakeview a well-loved area for buyers and sellers alike. (And let’s be frank…us agents, too!) I’ve helped my clients buy and sell over 150 homes in the area during my 32 years as a Real Estate agent!

Considering buying a home in Lakeview? It’s important to work with a REAL ESTATE veteran that understands the distinct flavor of each sub neighborhood. The variety of property styles and price ranges is wide, changing distinctly from block to block. In the current market, it’s a great place to both buy and sell, with property values up 10% from a year ago, and prices for condos and homes ranging from $59,000 (yes, you can buy a condo here for $59K!) and up to $5 million for a single-family home.

Aside from what Lakeview offers in the Real Estate department, there’s so much to see and do in this charming neighborhood. Don’t miss these five favorites of mine — they’re “the best of Lakeview” in my book!

Howard’s Wine Cellar
Find a unique selection of labels at this little shop that you won’t see anywhere else in the city. I’m a ‘bubbles’ gal (check out thebubblygirl.com, a favorite site of mine!) and Howard always has something new for me to try, along with my tried and true favorite, Tre di Terre Verdiane, a delightful wine in a gorgeous bottle.

Tango Sur
You’ve never experienced a BYOB like this! Once you’ve picked up your favorite vino at Howard’s, venture to Tango Sur, where you can expect nothing less than a top-notch steak smothered with authentic, freshly made chimichurri sauce at this Argentinian steakhouse. With it’s bustling, yet romantic setting, it’s one of the best date night spots in Chicago.

If you’re in the mood for the perfect nightcap, head to this gem of a cocktail lounge in Boystown. Serving everything from classics — like perfected Manhattans, to their Bourbon Shrub, with homemade pineapple syrup with rosemary.

Bad Wolf Coffee
If handcrafted cappuccinos are your thing, head to Bad Wolf Coffee. It’s my favorite spot in the area for a midday pick-me-up. Be sure to try one of their delicious pastries with your coffee!

In search of Chicago’s most authentic gelato? You’ll find it at Paciugo! I’m still dreaming about the Bacio gelato.
