Savor the magic of al fresco dining and cocktails amidst the breathtaking beauty of Chicago’s glorious fall!
The streets of Chicago buzz with life as the crisp October air wraps itself around the city like a familiar embrace. Chicago at her finest…our glorious Fall! Enjoy al fresco dinner along the Chicago River or in the many restaurants and rooftop bars open for outdoor dining and drinking in the fall. There is something magical about dining outdoors when the lush landscape turns from vibrant green to soft yellow and fiery orange and red. The warmth of summer lingers as the fall chill settles in. My favorite season!
The outdoor tables are adorned with flickering candles. People are wrapped in sweaters and shawls, sitting inside newly designed enclosures or warmed by space heaters. Chicago is aglow with the pinks and purples of twilight.
A few of our favorite places to eat and drink alfresco in this most magical season in Chicago…
Bar La Rue brings Paris to Fulton Market. My version of a ‘surf and turf’ are the Bougie Chicken Nuggets with osetra caviar and ranch crème fraiche with a dozen oysters and throw in a side of frites!
Cindy’s Rooftop offers the most stunning view of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan and you can enjoy the feel of dining and cocktailing al fresco all year round in the fully enclosed glass atrium.
Barcocina Lakeview and Barcocina West Town offers yummy south of the border nibbles and delicious margaritas in their open air dining room with overheard garage doors. For a magical winter wonderland rent a Barcocina Igloo!
ARRIBA is a rooftop margarita bar (you know how much I love my margs!) located above the Farm Bar Restaurant in Ravenswood.
The Dawson features a wood-burning stone fireplace set amidst lush trees covering their spacious outdoor area to create the most cozy dining and drinking spot, and if you need a bit more warmth, they offer blankets and outdoor heaters. Try the happy hour Tues-Fri 4-6!
