Buena Park was voted among the Best Places to Live by Chicago Magazine, and for very good reason. It is close to the lakefront with beautiful churches that sing out pleasantly on Sunday mornings.
Recently the Buena Park Mansion at Buena and Clarendon was purchased and will be the new home of Chicago’s independent publisher, Haymarket Books. The Lannan Foundation, “a family foundation dedicated to cultural freedom, diversity and creativity”, made the sale possible. In just about any other neighborhood this lot parcel and century old mansion would have been torn down to make way for a big condo development.
Some of the restaurants I love in Buena Park are The Reservoir (for pulled pork), Tesfa Ethiopian Cuisine (ask my brother about the shirt he designed for them!).
