GET Debra's Little Black Book

I’m often asked, “Who’s the best handyman in the area? Where can I find a great home cook for my party?” After 30 years in the business, I’ve gathered quite a list! That’s why I created my Little Black Book–a comprehensive, 80 page guide of my most trusted vendors, service providers, and partners in Chicago.

You can get your very own electronic copy, or a beautifully bound and printed version as a gift from me to you. Just pop in your information below, and we’ll send one your way.

Is the formal living room dead?

formal living room

Beautiful living room in one of the homes I recently sold – 1550 State Parkway

I can remember in vivid detail sitting in the living room of my grandparent’s house in South Deering on a Sunday afternoon in the middle of August, thighs stuck to the plastic covering of the ‘fancy’ sofa.   My beloved grandparents were peasant Italian immigrants but took great pride in having a home big enough to have a ‘formal living room’.  So how to integrate and decorate the room that many of us use as the place to hold the nice furniture, family photos and coffee table books; the room that rarely gets used?  The article below offers some chic, creative and affordable ideas.
